Attack of the shoes!

So, cool thing happened last night. I went to the hardware store to check out some solar panels and other neat stuff. The lady inside told me I had to wear shoes in there because there are nails and stuff on the floor and I obliged, being the polite person that I am. She said it's company policy that everyone has to wear shoes on that store's property, including the parking lot. So here I am, walking back to my car in the parking lot when I'm done, wearing shoes like she asked, when all of a sudden, my right foot was in excruciating pain and blood was seeping out of my shoe. (I was wearing Crocs, so that actually wasn't very much blood to do that.) When I pulled my foot out of my shoe to examine what had happened, there was a freaking piece of glass that my shoe had shoved into my foot! Because of all the blood, it was hard to tell how big it was, but it looked pretty huge. I hobbled back to my car, tried to stop the bleeding with some tissues, and called my husband and asked him to come take me to the hospital. The doc looked me over, cleaned up my foot, took some x-rays to make sure there was no glass still lodged in there, bandaged me up, and sent me on my merry, limping way. Here's a picture of the damage. It feels way more painful that it actually looks. And yes, that is a paperclip taped to my foot. There was so much blood that they couldn't find the cut without a marker at first.
Moral of the story: Don't freaking wear shoes. They will try to kill you.

  1. Sue the store- they are now liable because they made you wear shoes.

    1. I thought about it, but for such a little cut, it's just not worth it.

  2. Did the glass actually go through the Crocs?

    1. No, the shoe was not damaged. I think it got in through one of the holes on the side.
